I have tried a couple of recipes and have been successful for the first time using yeast. I have always failed with yeast and now succeeding I'm feeling confident of continuing.

Basic every day recipes that anyone can do. I can’t wait to get started!

I have to say, this is hands-down one of the best cookbooks I’ve added to our homestead kitchen. What I really love about it is how Mel doesn’t just give you a single recipe — she shares a recipe and then offers variations to help you brainstorm different ways to make it your own.
It’s been such a helpful way for me to start thinking more creatively about what we’re growing here or picking up at the farmers market. Instead of feeling stuck following one exact recipe, I’m learning how to adapt, swap ingredients, and really stock our pantry with homemade basics that fit what’s in season.
It feels less like following rules and more like being taught how to build skills and confidence in the kitchen. If you’re wanting to cook more from scratch, stock up your pantry, and get better at using what you have, I really think you’ll love it as much as I do.

This is a great first step towards cooking from scratch and making more food at home instead of from a package. I wish there was more whole wheat in the bread options, less sugar in recipes and more honey or maple syrup but I’d call this a great first step into making your own food!
